After Jack flew home to the UK, we set sail for Paxos, a small island off the southern tip of Corfu. We tried to stay first in Lakka, but it was too crowded, so the next day we sailed to the southern part of Paxos and stayed in Mongonisi. A beautiful sheltered little bay with two tavernas and a sandy beach.
We made friends with the crew of It’s a Doddle, Cat, Ding, Taylor and Daisy. Later in the week Dizzie arrived with Lynita, Justin, Kynan and Leora and we enjoyed the beach with all the children mixing and having fun. It was a stunning place to be and Carnayo Gold, one of the tavernas, made the best pizzas we’ve eaten in years.
Then back to the Gouvia anchorage in Corfu, where after successfully anchoring, we started to move too close to a 40m sailing yacht called Valquest. One of the crew came across on a paddle board and after a chat about life, we suggested we were too close. He then fessed up about why he had come over and we said we would move. When we did, he came across with a bottle of wine! What a lovely way to be asked to shift your arse away from my superyacht. Incidentally, if we hadn’t liked his attitude, we could have bought Valquest for 9,750,000 Euros (she’s for sale) and sacked him! We wish…
Today in Gouvia we also caught up with our friends on Titania, Helen, Mat, Ben and Annabelle. Sadly they have sold half their boat and they go back to the UK at the beginning of July.
